After a recent misinformed tweet from “famous” internet wrestling community member JDFromNY, it is time to remind everyone that the IWC and some of the members within the IWC are extremely toxic and should not have a platform. For years and years now the “Internet Wrestling Community” has received this type of criticism and it only seems to get worse year after year as well. Wrestling media members like Vince Russo and Jim Cornette only further fan the flames of toxicity within the community with their misguided and ignorant comments about wrestlers that extend well beyond their work in the squared circle.

The ill-informed tweet above has received plenty of (well-deserved) hate online after a promo package aired on Friday Night Smackdown. The aforementioned promo package consisted of Shotzi Blackheart shaving her head after Baylee cut a strand of her hair the previous week on Friday Night Smackdown. JDFromNY blasted the decision and blamed WWE founder and former owner Vince McMahon for making the call. However, it would later emerge that Shotzi decided on shaving her head to support her sister who is currently going through treatment for cancer.

This misguided tweet is still up on his page and he has even doubled down on the thought by releasing a tweet after the news broke promoting his post show YouTube stream. He has been trolling and arguing with people on twitter as well which only further proves that the community and JDFromNY in particular is the darkside of the product that millions enjoy each week.

This latest incident is not the only constant situation that gives the IWC this type of reputation. There is also constant infighting between fans of promotions as many people won’t allow someone to just enjoy the product over several different platforms. Back in the day it was WWE vs WCW and now its WWE vs AEW, as fans of the two companies are constantly going back and forth on multiple different social media platforms.

This is where the words of Vince Russo, Jim Cornette, and so many other wrestling media personalities come into the picture with their constant belittling of companies and wresters. Half of the stuff they say would not be so bothersome to people if they would stop taking their comments well past the threshold of the wrestling business and attacking peoples personal life’s and beliefs as well. This goes for media personalities on both sides of the company isle regardless of if they support only WWE or only AEW.

At the end of the day, the Internet Wrestling Community needs to take a hard long look at itself and get rid of the toxic members like JDFromNY among several others. They contribute nothing to the community but hate and drama to better serve their own egos and the wrestling community would be better if individuals like him and many others stopped being treated as important members of the community. But, when you watch a SPORT that thrives off of drama to push stories and make money I guess these types of things are to be expected.
