Last night, following the NASCAR All-Star race Ricky Stenhouse Junior and Kyle Busch got into an altercation back in the garages that was captured on live television. There are many people out there debating on if the fight was real or if it was staged as the TV cameras were not far behind when the altercation was ongoing, and the argument started. The argument between Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. and Kyle Busch stemmed from a wreck earlier in the race where Kyle Busch sent Stenhouse into the wall and knocked him out of the race within the first couple of laps.
Ricky Stenhouse was unable to exit the track due to the set up until after the race was over, which gave him a couple of hours to sit and stew about the wreck and the potential altercation afterwards. After a brief argument, he would throw a punch at Kyle Busch that was either staged or he does not know how to throw a proper punch. The question is still in the air for many people, however, one thing is for certain, this could be a ratings grab for NASCAR, which is why fans all over the country are wondering if NASCAR set up this altercation to pull more eyes on the product.
What followed after the initial punch by Ricky Stenhouse, was an all out melee involving both drivers and their crews. It’ll be interesting to see if NASCAR attempts to capitalize on this altercation or if suspensions are handed out for the cruise and both Ricky Stenhouse, Jr. as well as Kyle Busch. You can certainly argue that Ricky deserves a punishment if punishments are to be handed down as he ignited the entire brawl, and Kyle Busch may get a reduced punishment and may simply be fined for causing a wreck in the second lap of the race.
There are many people that will argue that NASCAR is a dying sport and stock car racing and its own is a relic of a bygone era. Even with rule changes and all sorts of other gimmicks to attract a younger audience nothing will attract a younger audience more than drama, and that gives them the perfect situation at the moment. There have been several dust ups in NASCAR over the years, but this is perhaps the most public and covered one in recent memory with the age of social media upon us. You certainly wouldn’t be able to argue the fact that NASCAR would likely draw more ratings if they allow drivers that crashed into each other to get into fights on live TV every week.
How do you feel about the altercation between Stenhouse and Kyle Busch and do you believe that NASCAR set up the altercation to draw more eyes? Is that something you would put past the company of NASCAR or are you one of the people that jumped off the ship after NASCAR supposedly went “woke” a few years ago? Does the altercation between Ricky Stenhouse and Kyle Busch peak your interest, and you want to check out next week’s race?
