The Bay Breakers and Denver Onyx will battle it out for the second-ever Legacy Cup in Women’s Elite Rugby, as Denver intends on going back-to-back and remaining the only champions in league history.

The Onyx were handily the best team in WER a season ago, nearly going undefeated with a 9-1 record while no other team finished more than a game above the .500 mark. Facing the New York Exiles for the inaugural Legacy Cup, Denver backed up their exceptional record with an even more exceptional title run, taking it 53-13.

The Sacramento-based Bay Breakers were one of those teams finishing 2025 with a 6-4 showing, but missed out on the championship game by a single point in the standings. However, in 2026 no tiebreaker was needed, as the Breakers finished at an 8-2 record, just behind the Onyx who repeated their previous record of 9-1.
